The creature buried itself deep within his spine, weaving through bone and muscle until it became impossible to separate where the parasite ended and he began.
It did not control him.
It convinced him.
Every sacrifice felt voluntary.
Every wound felt worthwhile.

The tendrils spread further with every passing day, feeding on his strength while replacing it with something unnatural. They wrapped around his heart, threaded through his lungs, and became the very force that kept him standing.
To remove the parasite would mean death.
To keep it meant losing himself completely.
So he made his choice.
Not because he wanted to.
Because he no longer remembered who he was without it.
